I just used basic square boards. They were only 14 x 14, so I had to put beads on the edges to make them 16 x 16 (like the ? Block). For Mario, I had to make him in separate pieces.

the only reason i ask is because i have a scanner too and that background looked liek a background from a scanner ...so yeah
